Wavy-stroked fonts are all the rage right now! I’m seeing them applied to an entire word, or just to one letter in a word, like the “Good Move” example below.
I’m currently OBSESSED with Roc Grotesk. This font, by the Serbian kostic type foundry, features five different widths and nine different weights which makes for 45 styles total. To see this font in action, look no further than this website! All live type is in roc grotesk.
Besides the trend of layering 5 necklaces at once, I’ve started noticing rainbow necklaces, reminiscent of childhood (but made for adults).
Here are a few examples from the movies – Lili Reinhart’s character in “Look Both Ways” and Zoey Deutch’s character in “Not Okay”.
Nothing screams “New York Street Style” quite like canvas bags. It’s pretty incredible how widespread this trend is – people are carrying them both as an addition to a purse, and as their main purse. They’ve even crept into some of my favorite NYC tv shows.
The free Brooklinen tote that you get with any purchase is the most common tote I see.
I’ve seen this series all the way through, probably 10x already, but rewatching it as a NYC local is magic.
carrie always teaches me to think outside the box, with her ultra unique sense of style. I love watching her fashion sense morph through the seasons.
what an 80’s dream! Besides that killer custom “Stranger Things” font, I’m obsessed with the fun color combos, and nods to the past (hello, skating rink). a little retro 80’s never hurt anyone!
To-date, the show that most exemplifies my experience in New York City is none other than broad city. This flick paints the city as soulful, adventurous, humanitarian, grimy, dream-making, soul-crushing, and completely mystical. Alana and Abbi – I couldn’t agree with you more.
Design-wise, this show is full of creativity! broad city teaches me to think outside the box, and explore even kookier design ideas than I thought possible.
